There were 2053 atomic explosions on the planet between 1945 & 1998, beginning with the test by the United States before their live use on the populations of Hiroshima & Nagasaki, and culminating with the nuclear tests conducted by Pakistan and India at the end of the century.
This visualisation plots those explosions on a world map, marking each with a colour and sound that represent the country which conducted the test.
The video ends by focusing on each of the seven nuclear powers, showing the spread of where they conducted their tests. The United States hammered their own back-yard pretty heavily, as well as Japan, whereas Britain kept it all at arms length over in Australia, the South Pacific & the USA.
